Cookie Scoop
I use cookie scoops to evenly distribute cookie dough and cupcake batter. I typically use a 1.5 tablespoon scoop for cookies and a 3 tablespoon scoop for cupcakes.
Kitchenaid Mixer
If you do a lot of baking, a Kitchenaid Stand Mixer is a life-saver.
Flex Edge Beater Kitchenaid Attachment
I love this attachment because it scrapes the side of the bowl as it mixes.
Kitchenaid Bowl with Handle
Having a mixing bowl with a handle makes pouring cake batter into pans much easier.
Glass Mixing Bowls
I love having glass mixing bowls for times when I need to use the microwave or create a double broiler and for mixing dry ingredients. I also like the look of glass mixing bowls.
Squeeze Bottles
I use squeeze bottles for creating drips around the side of a cake or for a drizzle on cupcakes.
Revolving Cake Stand
I use this to decorate all my cakes. It helps to create smooth sides and even drips. This $15 one is great for beginners, however when you want to upgrade, this is a great option.
Bench Scraper
This is a must for creating smooth sides around a cake. You may also want a tall one for extra tall cakes.
Offset Spatula
You’ll want this to spread frosting onto a cake or for making cute designs. I use both a small and large offset spatula when decorating cakes.
Piping Bags
You’ll want to keep piping bags on hand for piping frosting onto cakes or cupcakes.
Decorating Tips
I use a few different decorating tips to decorate cakes and cupcakes. Below are the ones I most frequently use.
8″ Cake Pans
This is my go-to size when making a cake, but I also use 6″ pans and 9″ pans.
Pre-Cut Parchment Rounds
These are a must for easy clean up. I always line my cake pans with parchment paper. I like to keep 6″ liners and 8″ liners on hand.
Cake Boards
You’ll want to decorate your cakes on top of cake boards for easy transfer. I like to keep 7″ and 9″ round cake boards on hand – they’re perfect for 6″ and 8″ cakes.
Whisk
I use a whisk for mixing my dry ingredients before adding them into the wet ingredients.
Rubber Scraper
It’s important to have a good quality rubber scraper for stirring ingredients and for scraping the sides of the bowls.
Dry Measuring Cups
You should be using dry measuring cups to measure any dry ingredients if you’re not measuring by weight.
Kitchen Scale
If you prefer to measure ingredients by weight, you must have a kitchen scale.
Liquid Measuring Cup
Measure your liquids using a liquid measuring cup.
Measuring Spoons
Be sure to have measuring spoons so that you can measure ingredients precisely.
Cupcake Liners
I always keep regular and mini cupcake liners on hand.
Cupcake Pan
I like to have regular and mini cupcake pans.
Baking Sheets
You’ll need baking sheets for baking cookies, macarons, etc.
